An island full of surprises![]() Texel guarantees an all-round holiday. This certainly can be said of the northern tip of the island. The large sandy beaches are favoured in summer as well as in winter. The beach at Paal 33 is ideal for young children. At this pleasant location you also find a beach pavilion and a sailing school. In summertime you can take the boat at ‘Steigertje van Sil’ to make a daytrip to Vlieland. There is a big chance you will see a group of seals on the sandbanks! De Slufter![]() An excursion across the nature areas De Slufter and De Muy is a must. De Slufter is the largest nature area of Texel. A vast saline grassland, where the sea enjoys free play. During your walk you will see colourful flowers and special birds. In and around De Cocksdorp, sports freaks can play golf, sail or go for a horse-ride. In the village you will find cosy restaurants and various shops. Culture in the polder![]() In the midst of the polder, culture prevails. At the airport there is always something going on. Parachutists, planes in all sorts and sizes. Do not forget to ‘land’ in the Aviation museum. The expositions remember us of a special past. In the workshop and the garden of the Island Gallery you can admire various art forms. The Moai statue at the entrance is a remarkable figurehead, an art form that originates from Easter Island in the Pacific. Texel tips![]() And of course there are also a lot of activities elsewhere on the island. Cart racing, a day on the shrimp cutter, watching seals in Ecomare, fun shopping in Den Burg or enjoying on a terrace in the seaside town of De Koog. |
